ANALYSIS + HIGHLIGHTS: Vancouver Whitecaps bow out of Concacaf Champions Cup after Seattle defeat
The Vancouver Whitecaps will not get another shot at the Concacaf Champions Cup in back-to-back years as the Seattle Sounders defeated their Cascadia rivals 2-1 (5-1 on aggregate) in Leg 2 of this Round of 16 clash.
Facing the prospect of turning around a 3-0 deficit away from home, Jesper Sorensen's side started the match well enough, with Jeevan Badwal scoring a beautiful goal in the first half to give the Canadian outfit a 1-0 lead at half-time.
But, a pair of unanswered efforts by Seattle in the second 45 – Danny Musovski with the equalizer on the night, Paul Rothrock with the go-ahead – saw any hopes of a comeback fade away entirely.
So, it's back to MLS regular season action, with an eye toward the TELUS Canadian Championship, where the prospect of a five-peat now looms ahead.
