ANALYSIS + HIGHLIGHTS: CanWNT 🇨🇦 vs. Denmark🇩🇰 | International Friendly (Oct 12, 2026)
The CanWNT capped off the October window with a thrilling 4-3 defeat to Denmark at BMO Field on Monday.
Days after drawing Denmark 1-1 in Montréal, Canada got off to an excellent start to this return fixture, as Delaney Baie Pridham put her team ahead with her first international goal in just the 10th minute.
Yet, despite several chances to double their lead, Canada entered the second half down by two goals as Denmark stormed back and scored three before halftime.
First, Olivia Holdt managed to score an audacious long-range goal to tie the game, before Pernille Harder scored her second goal in two games this window to put her team ahead. Then, Holdt added her second goal of the game in the 32nd minute to cap off a nightmare stretch for Canada.
Despite that, Casey Stoney's side pushed back in the second half and found an early lifeline through an Evelyne Viens goal in the 49th minute. Unfortunately, Denmark soon regained their lead in the 61st minute through Janni Thomsen, but Canada did claw the game back to 4-3 with a long-range Olivia Smith strike in the 70th minute, as she scored her second goal in as many games this window.
From there, Canada pushed hard for an equalizer, and despite having several chances to find it, they never got that fourth goal, leaving them to suffer a bittersweet defeat, as they were unable to give Allysha Chapman, who featured in her 100th and final CanWNT game as a substitute late in the match, the winning farewell they would've hoped to give her on her final appearance for her country.
