Cavalry FC capped off a perfect week on Saturday, cruising to a 5-0 victory over Inter Toronto FC at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows to keep the pressure on Forge FC atop the league standings.

Five different players found the scoresheet for Cavalry, with Adam Pearlman and Owen Antoniuk each scoring their first goals for the club and Tobias Warschewski delivering a man-of-the-match performance with three assists.

It was Cavalry's most convincing performance of the season, with the five-goal margin marking the club's biggest win of the 2026 campaign. The hosts also recorded their seventh clean sheet in 15 league matches, matching the highest total in the CPL this season.

The defeat continued a difficult run for Inter Toronto, whose last league victory came on May 17. The visitors managed just five shot attempts all afternoon and forced Nathan Ingham into only one save as Cavalry controlled proceedings from start to finish.

Cavalry needed just 17 minutes to break the deadlock, with Pearlman scoring his first CPL goal since October 2025 — and his first for the club — to give the hosts a deserved early lead.

The opener was the product of a flowing team move. The sequence began with composed buildup from Ingham, Eryk Kobza and Daan Klomp before Klomp picked out Warschewski on the right flank with a pinpoint long pass. Warschewski drove into the penalty area and squared a low ball across the six-yard box, where Pearlman timed his run perfectly to arrive unmarked for a simple tap-in.

Pearlman's strike proved to be the only goal of the opening 45 minutes, but Cavalry found another gear after the break, adding four more to put the match beyond doubt.

It did not take long after the restart for Antoniuk to double Cavalry's lead. In the 51st minute, he collected the ball outside the penalty area and fired a low shot through a crowd of bodies into the bottom-left corner, beyond Inter Toronto goalkeeper Ivan Pavela, for his first goal in Cavalry colours.

With the result firmly in hand, some familiar faces put the finishing touches on the victory. Ali Musse opened his account for the 2026 CPL season in the 61st minute before Nathaniel Edwards continued his strong run of form, scoring his third league goal of the campaign — and second in as many matches — with a finish that closely mirrored his strike against FC Supra du Québec on Tuesday. Caniggia Elva completed the rout in the 86th minute, capping the five-goalscorer afternoon for the hosts.

At the heart of Cavalry's attacking display was another outstanding performance from Warschewski. The club's leading scorer, with six league goals this season, turned provider on Saturday, setting up Pearlman, Musse and Elva. His three-assist performance took him to five on the campaign, moving him into a tie for the league lead.

The result leaves Cavalry just one point behind Forge in the CPL standings. While the Hamilton side still has two games in hand, the Cavs victory on Saturday ensured the pressure remains on ahead of Forge's visit to Halifax on Sunday.
