THE HOMECOMING: CanMNT to play Chile and Peru this September & October in Canada

Canada Soccer, Federación de Fútbol de Chile (FFCh) and Federación Peruana de Fútbol (FPF) have announced that Canada Soccer's Men's National Team (CANMNT) will play international matches against Chile and Peru in the September-October 2026 FIFA window.

CANMNT will host Chile at BMO Field in Toronto on Saturday 26 September, before travelling to Montréal to face Peru at Stade Saputo on Saturday 3 October.

Billed as 'The Homecoming' - these matches are set to serve as a celebration of a team that inspired a nation and united millions of Canadians through unforgettable performances. After the incredible support shown by Canadian supporters throughout the summer, these matches are an opportunity for everyone who followed the journey to welcome the team back home.

A Summer to Remember

Canada’s history making FIFA World Cup 2026™ campaign was the most successful in program history. CANMNT opened with a 1:1 draw against Bosnia and Herzegovina before defeating Qatar 6:0 to record the program’s first-ever World Cup win. A hard-fought 2:1 loss in the final group stage match to Switzerland was enough to send Canada through to the knockout stage for the first time in its history. A 1:0 victory over South Africa following a92nd minute winner from Stephen Eustáquio positioned Canada in the Round of 16. The run ended with a 3:0 defeat to Morocco in Houston on 4 July.

A few records broken by CANMNT at FIFA World Cup 2026™:

- First Men’s World Cup Point, Win, Knockout-Stage Appearance and Round of 16 Appearance

- Biggest-ever World Cup win margin by a CONCACAF Nation (6:0 vs. Qatar, beating out Mexico's 4:0 win over El Salvador in 1970)

- Tied the biggest-ever win margin by a World Cup host nation (6:0 vs. Qatar, tying Argentina 6:0 Peru in 1978)

- First team outside Europe or South America to score six goals in a World Cup match

- First hat trick by a CONCACAF player at a World Cup since Bert Patenaude (USA) in 1930 (Jonathan David 3 goals vs. Qatar)

- Most-watched World Cup Group Stage match on record in Canada (vs. Qatar, 11.7M unique viewers, 5.3M average audience) and Canada's most-watched World Cup match since the 2014 Final.

Closing out 2026

Beyond the two Homecoming matches, Canada's fall schedule includes the Concacaf Nations League A Quarterfinals in November. Canada finished third in the 2024-25 Concacaf Nations League A and is one of four nations to receive a bye directly into the quarterfinals, bypassing the September/October Group Stage. The quarterfinals will be played as a two-legged, home-and-away cumulative goals series, with the winner advancing to the Concacaf Nations League Finals at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles in March 2027. The 2026-27 Concacaf Nations League also serves as the qualification pathway to the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup. The four quarter-final winners will qualify directly for the Gold Cup. The four losing teams will advance to the Gold Cup preliminary round.

Tickets for the CANMNT v. Chile and CANMNT v. Peru matches will go on sale to the public on Friday 31 July via CanadaSoccer.com following a series of advance presale windows for CanadaRED members. As the official payment services sponsor of Canada Soccer, Visa is offering cardholders an opportunity to purchase tickets in advance of the public on-sale date. As Canada Soccer’s preferred payment provider, Visa will be the only payment method accepted during the Visa presale. The Visa presale will open on Thursday 30 July at 10:00am ET.

Group Ticket Offer

Group discounts (10+ tickets) are available for the match at BMO Field against Chile on Saturday September 26. Fans organizing a group of 10+ are eligible to receive discounts ofup to 30% off regular priced tickets. Beginning Friday, July 31, group ticket requests can be submitted through the group order form on canadasoccer.com, where group organizers can select their preferred price point and ticket quantity. Once the form is submitted, group organizers will be contacted to confirm payment details and finalize the order. Group ticket requests will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and are expected to be in high demand.
